Steps after P2V of a Windows 7 Workstation ?

Hi,

It is requested by my manager to perform a P2V of a Windows 7 workstation running OEM license.

After the P2V, windows license is not genuine and need another license key to reactivate (We have done this part).

Then we run SYSPREP but we get a fatal error.  We just wonder whether it would be a problem if we use the VM (i.e. P2V one) and physical workstation running Windows 7 for a while (Both of them have been joined to AD) ?   Do we need to remove the physical workstation from AD as SYSPREP fails ?

Thanks

that's because of the SID conflict , Same name and same SID cannot be joined with the single AD,

before converting , you should make sure the virtual machine is not connected to network (disable network adapter ) , Run sysprep , activate the OS, change the computer name,

and than you can enable the network adapter and join your VM to Domain , with the same SID both machines cannot be online , it might face login errors and other issues .

if you want the physical machine to be active , shutdown the converted one as of now.

Thanks for your advice.  However, it still doesn't work.  I have asked my colleague to shutdown his physical machine and use the VM.
