Status alert on ESX Datastores are not consistent.

The attached screenshot shows the status of the datastores very differently. The Datastores with more free space are showing up as a RED alert... Is this status display faulty ?

Are you sure those alerts aren't due to something like  Storage IO Control and an External I/O workload detected?    Can you look at the alarms and determine if they are datastore usage or something else?

there is jsut one alarm showing up for ESX box and that is just a memory usage to yellow......

Data receive and send on the network front is fine .... Storage IO is showing up as around 11000 KBPS... which i dont know if is normal or not......

Do you have set different alert thresholds in each datastore?  That could explain this behavior.
Sometimes the datastore alert doesn't work very well, specially when you free up some space, and the alert doesn't show it.  You can try disabling the alert, and enabling it again.

Check which alarm it is for each datastore (could not necessary be disk usage alarm).

Then see which threshold are using.

I had the same situations. I my case those RED alerts were triggered some time before I discovered them and even after we cleaned up some space on alerted datastores the alerts still stayed there. What you can do to make them disappear is to edit Alert Definition, e.g. you can type just one symbol in its Description field, but don't save it, just click cancel and all alerts should reset according to alerts' thresholds.

hope it will help you.
