Split the guest machine disk space into two different data storage unit

Hi,

Is it possible to split the disk space of an VM guest machine into two storage unit? The situation is one of my customers need 6 T space for its Ubuntu system. In my cloud, the system is VMware vSphere 5.5,  I have 3 storage units, each of them is 10 T space in total. From what I see, I can move the VMs to 2 of the 3 units, and let one storage unit for this 6 T request. But I am wondering is it possible to let an VM to use two different two space in two storage units?

If this question has been asked before, it would be appreciated showing me the pointer.

thanks for reading this post.

if the 6TB ubuntu machine is new, one option is  you can create multiple virtual disk in multiple data store and do volume group at OS level.

You can create multiple virtual disks, each virtual disk in a different datastore, and inside the Ubuntu virtual machine create a LVM with these multiple disks.
