Has it always been the case the snapshots for a VM with multiple vDisks would store the snapshot files with the configuration files.
We could have sworn that the snapshot for each vdisk was kept on the same VMFS as the vdisk

thnak you for your answer, We came across these articles. Basically we had a problem with putting a snapshot on a machine with a large disk on a 1MB block size VMFS, after increasing the block size we still couldn't create the snapshot (apparently vsphere does some extra checking that ESX 3.5 didnt)
The strange thing is we were sure that this hasnt always been the behaviour and snaphots were stored with thier vdisks.
Oh well, must be another blonde moment
