ESXi host 4.1.0 260247
Guest is 2008 64 bit, version 7 hardware, 2 CPUs, 2 GB Ram
When the snapshot was deleted from the system, near the eand of the process the guest is unresponsive for a few minutes, thus triggering monitoring alerts. This has happend on more than one ocasion on different hosts and different guests. Is there a way to minimize this "downtime"?

I have read the article, but do not see anything that would assist in a resolution.
The article just describes the reasons. I would find out what is going on at the time of snapshot consolidation that could cause or contribute to the problem. Very high disk activity, network activity, other VM activity. Check logs and Windows Event viewer.
do you have a valid support? i would create ticket to seek additional help from them as my few previous experiences have different causes and they got it sorted very fast.
