Slow network - Windows 2008 VMs file / copy

Hi,

When copying files between VMs or clients the network speed is about 35-45MB/s on average. Our ESX 5.0 servers are connected to EMC C310 SAN and cisco GB network. The VMs have virtual Intel E1000 cards in them as well. Is this speed normal? Thought it would be faster at least.

It might be the reading and the writing to the SAN disks which are the limiting factor. You could try some network performance tool (e.g. iperf or other free tool) to test which actual bandwidth throughput you get between the VMs.
