I copied a Windows XP Pro VM when it was powered off using the datastore browser from the local datastore to an NFS share. When I compared the sizes of the files in the VM folder on both datastores I noticed that the vmdk is slightly larger on the NFS share. Please see attached image.
Any explanation?

EDIT: I did a test and copied the VM from the NFS share back to the local datastore and the file sizes match. I would still be interested in knowing why there is a difference?
