Size Disk dimension for Host and Storage (ESXi 5.1 in HA configuration)

(VMWARE vSphere Esxi 5.1)

Hi guys,

I am going to implementing a solution vSphere ESXi 5.1 HA with 2 Hosts connected to a shared storage via SAS (direct connection NO SAS or iSCSI).

On Esxi system there will be also vCenter Server with an own VM (VMvcs).

2 VMs (VM1, VM2) run on the HOST1 (the other HOST will work only if a VM or the HOST1 is not available)

Each VM (VM1 and VM2) requires 50 GB of disk space (it is only an example).

I do not the space needed by a VM running vCenterServer

So it total we have for the HOST1: 3 VMs (VM1 + VM2 + VMvcs)

I would like to understand the space needed on the 2 hosts and the storage.

1) The space needed in the HOST?

2) The space needed in the storage?

I assume that that the space in the storage will be at least: 50 Gb (VM1) + 50 Gb (VM2) + xGb (VMvcs).

But for the HOSTs?

I need your help.

Thanks

Check Page 13 of the Installation and Setup Guide http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-55/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-55-install... for the storage requirements for your ESXi host and page 15 for vCenter.

The VM storage rewuirements will depend on the needs of the OS and applications in the VM -

Also you do realize you are woefully under utilizing the ability of vSphere
