Share a specific hardware with VM

Hi All,

I need to know is it possible and how to make a specific hardware to be available for virtual machines?

I'm testing with ESX 4 (in evaluation) and trying to make a specific PCI device, which is not emulated, to be "visible" for VMs.

Can I/O pass-trough be somehow used in ESX 4 or ESX4i?

Appreciate some help and advice!

Yes, you can passthrough some PCI devices to VM on ESX4, but you need supported hardware to do this. Only latest Intel Xeons (Nehalem) support it.

This is the VMware supported way, but PCI passtrough also works perfect on Intel 5400 Chipset (with VTd) and Intel Xeon 5410 for example.
