Setting overrideDuplicateImageDetection in boot.cfg doesn't work

Running an ESXi host from a flash drive, I added a second flash drive as a failover and cloned the whole content of the original via the dd command.

Unfortunately ESXi now refused to start because it detected a duplicate UUID.

I can start it with shift+O and manually typing overrideDuplicateImageDetection at the boot prompt.

I wanted to automate this by adding overrideDuplicateImageDetection to the kernelopt line in bootbank/boot.cfg

Unfortunately ESXi5 still drops to the pink screen because it detects a duplicate UUID.

Had anyone success to add this boot option permanently to ESXi 5? Has the syntax probably changed in ESXi 5?

To answer my own question:

In vSphere 5 you can set the parameter directly. It is under advanced settings/VMKernel/Boot.

Ideally you set this before you clone your flash drive.
