Sending ctrl-alt-f* keystrokes

I am using a Linux desktop, and as such I am using an rdp session into a Windows desktop with the viclient installed on it. This single esxi server is not part of a vsphere cluster, so I do not have the web ui available.

Is there a trick to map the ctrl-alt-f* keystroke combination such that it can be passed to the guest vm? Searching online had some examples using the space bar in combination that had no affect obviously.

Thanks.

Have you seen this KB article?

It's for a different keystroke combination, but the same process should apply.
