Secure Erase/Wipe VMWare VM Data

Hello,

I have VMware ESXi 5 server cluster in my environment. All my servers are hosted on ESXi Cluster. Storage is presented to the cluster hosts via FC. I wanted to know if I need to perform a secure erase (100% unrecoverable) of some/all content on vmware vm side, what will be the best option? Also I want to know

a) What is the compliance level of the erase method

b) How long it will take. Lets say I have a VM and it has two disk attached to it from Host storage pool C: with 100GB and D with 500GB. What is the approx time required to perform secure wipe of these disks and how?

c) How about doing secure wipe at VM level. To be able to wipe the entire VM from ESX host and how long it will take?

Thanks,

bws

You can use any third party Disk wipe tool to wipe the data.

The time depends upon the algorithm which you select to wipe 100 GB to 500 GB data.
