Saving / printing /exporting configuration

Given a vSphere implementation with 1 vCenter server and 2 ESXi hosts, how can I save the current configuration?

I want to save it either to:

  • restore it after possible problems
  • document the current settings

I can obviously ptint screenshots of settings, but it's not a smart solution...

Regards

Hi,

for vCenter i would recommend to backup the database. And, if it is a vm, you could use vdr to backup your server itself if available.

for ESXi Host you could backup your current configuration with the vicfg-cfgbackup

Hi Marius,

Frank's answer is the right one. You may consider to use  vCenter as a VM and backup it as a common VM.

Concerning documentation I would suggest you Veeam Reporter (http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-reporter.html)
