I have several ESXi 5 servers that have failed HDDs. I want to confirm that the drives are in a RAID configuration before I hot swap the drives as these are critical production servers and can't be taken off-line. Does anyone know what the SSH command is for ESXi 5 that will show the RAID configuration? I know there are some vendor specific tools that can help manage these servers but I just wanted to quickly confirm the RAID config so I can replace the drives.
Thanks!
If you have HP servers (and the HP Offline Bundles installed) then you have the hpacucli tool for managing Smart Array controllers available in a shell.
It is also available through esxcli (esxcli hpacucli).
There are no RAID utlities on ESXi itself, but you if you have an LSI controller, you could try megaCLI for ESXi http://vmsysadmin.wordpress.com/2011/12/09/using-perc-5i-with-esxi-5-2/

They are HP servers. I knew I would probably need to install the bundles. With that said, is the functionality available through VSphere with the right plug-ins? If so, can someone point me to some documentation on the procedure to set it up for VSphere?
Thanks again!
This HP guide should help:
