SSD = true in 'Drive Type'

Does anyone know how to set this flag to true within ESXi?  I know there is a way to do this in vSphere 6 through the web client, and there is also a way to do this via the CLI when using NMP devices.  The issue we have is that we are using PowerPath and can't seem to find a way to do this in 5.5.  Any thoughts?

In 5.5 you need to create a claim rule, and reload it to the SSD. @Vladan Seget has a good article on it here rather than me typing out the commands:

The issue is that those claim rules are tied to NMP and not PowerPath so that won't work.
