SQL Server Best Practices

Hi,

I have several SQL Servers that I need to consolidate and upgrade to 2012. I can't find a Vmware ESXi 5.1 best practice guide for SQL Server 2012, can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm looking for information on sizing number of vCPUs, memory, etc

Thanks

Dan

There's no reason for virtual CPUs or virtual memory to be treateded differently to hardware, aside from the added issue of over contention.

Thanks, I have another question:

Reading the document it mentions allocation each VM to it's own LUN. This seems quite wasteful to me.

Am I right in thinking that a LUN is simply a unit of storage at the end of a ISCI or Fibre Channel target, that a LUN can be an individual disk, partition or RAID set?

Apologies for the ignorant question, but I've never configured a SAN from scratch and would like some clarification.

Cheers
