SCP not working on ESXi 4.1

I am looking at an old ESXi 4.1 system and can't recall how SFTP or FTP functions

I turned on SSH and when I used WinSCP, i can connect to the ESXi server but get back "Access denied

Do I need to enable something to get SFTP, FTP, working?

thanks

Please,

Try this Kb VMware KB: Enabling root SSH login on an ESX host ...

maybe this problem occur because the root user doesn't have ssh access.

I was going to modify the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, but there is no such file so far, no luck pulling files off the ESXi Server

Can you connect via putty ? - if yes then WinSCP should work as well - but withj 4.1 you must use SCP. The SFTP only works with newer ESXi

Ok,

- Please try a telnet to your problem host and to the other running in port 22

-  there is a network firewall in this environment?

WinSCP from a current download will fail on ESXi 4.1 - maybe trying older versions of WinSCP helps.
Anyway - it is not a firewall problem.
