After installing ESXi 5.1.0 U2, a shutdown/restart causes the computer to hang on the BIOS splash page. When this occurs, it isn't possible to view or edit any BIOS settings. However, if the computer is simply powered down, this does not happen.
The only recourse is to remove the motherboard battery, wait a minute, re-insert the battery, then power up. After fixing the BIOS settings, ESXi starts up OK. Any attempt to perform another shutdown/restart causes the problem and solution to repeat itself.
The Motherboard is an ASUS P5WD2-E with 8Gb of memory and an Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz processor.
What could ESXi 5.1.0 be doing on a restart that could be corrupting the BIOS settings?
