We are running vSphere 5.1 Essentials Plus Bundle on 3 physical hosts. All VMs are stored on a shared iSCSI SAN ( Dell PowerVault MD3220i ) and nightly backups occur on an internal disk and then mirrored to a swappable external drive.
As far as disaster recovery, I feel I have it covered pretty well... except for the SAN. If the SAN goes does down, I will be scrambling to get backups recovered, etc.
I know that I can purchase a duplicate SAN and replicate between SANs, but at a cost of about $16,000+... which I don't want to do.
Are they any readily-available options available that I could use to replicate the SAN to another datastore(s)? I thought about vSphere Site Recovery Manager and maybe vSphere Storage Appliance, but I don't think either of those are going to get me there.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
