Removing iSCSI port bindings

Greetings !

I need to remove the iSCSI port bindings from 2 VMKernal ports, I've found VMware KB1020674 that requires the hosts to be rebooted, commands run to enable, disable and then remove the vmk interface. Can I not just put the host into maintenance mode, delete the VMkernal ports from the vSwitch and then recreate them ?

You don't have to put the host into maintenance mode that's (optional). just delete the VMkernel ports from the vSwitch and re-create them, make sure to re-check "Network Port Binding" Path Status to see that everything is up & ruining.

Why such a convoluted KB from VMware, I was expecting someone to reply and say it won't let you delete the VMkernal ports while it was enabled ?

I needed all the VMs off the host before I can make the change, putting it into maintenance mode was just me running through the process in my head.

Thanks for the reply.

You're welcome!

That KB is only for Unbinding physical network cards from the iSCSI VMKernel using the --> command line & run those commands to disable the software iSCSI initiator
