Removing Dvs

HI All -

I was wondering if anyone has any experience removing Dvs and configuring Standard Switches with minimal downtime.

I was thinking to do it in this order to hopefully be seamless....

1.  Add the standard switches and configure the port groups. (script).

2.  Remove Dvs.

Thank you in advance,

If you have more than one vmnic you can do this migration without downtime, here is the high level steps:

1) remove one vmnic from vDS;

2) create a new vSS using the vmnic you removed from the vDS;

3) create the appropriate port groups on the vSS;

4) migrate the virtual machine network from vDS to vSS; (this can be done online)

5) migrate any VMkernel interface from vDS to vSS; (this can be done online)

6) remove any vmnic from vDS and add them to the vSS;

7) remove the host from vDS;

😎 delete the vDS.

Hi vjsb22

Did you have a chance to follow the steps I referenced in my previous post? Do you have any additional doubt? If not, remember to mark answers as helpful or correct.
