Remove vCenter from vSphere Domain

Is there a way to remove a vCenter server from an existing vSphere domain to migrate to a new domain? I have a vCenter server in a lab environment which is not functioning the way that I want to, so I want to remove it from my current vSphere domain, keep the current one for my prod, and put this test vCenter into it's own domain. The PSCs are not embedded. The environment is 6.0 Update 1a.

Thanks.

no, cannot be done.

if you see following KB

VMware KB: Repointing the VMware vCenter Server 6.0 between sites in a vSphere Domain

it's explaining repointing vCenter with possible scenarios, but all are within same vSphere domain.

Is there a way to save the vCenter configuration and import into a new vCenter install so that I don't have to start completely over from scratch on this?

You should be able to point a new vCenter to your vCenter database.
