Remove a domain name from Host Identification

Hi,

I had my ESXi 6 host on a LAN that assigned a domain name through DHCP.

My host is called HPESXI, but after connected to the LAN it renamed itself to HPESXI.domain.co.uk

I then connected it back to my own LAN, which doesn't have a domain.

When I try to remove the domain name in the vSphere Client in Configuration > DNS and Routing it won't let me. If I leave the domain field blank it doesn't let me save it.

It isn't actually joined to the domain though, so I can't remove it from the domain.

Can anybody help?

Cheers,

Raf

‌Hi Raf,

You should be able to remove this using either the DCUI or esxcli:

Let us know how you go.

Cheers, Matt.
