Remove 1 vCPU from VM with 2 vCPUs

Hi,

We have some server with Windows 2008r2 Datacenter and Vmware Esxi 5.1.

We have a lot of server with 2 vCPUs, we need to remove 1 vCPU from these servers and add these vCPU to other servers.

There is a problem?  (perfomance, kernel, etc)

Thanks.

This should not be a problem - you will have to power down the VMs to remove the vCPU -

Switching from Multi-Processor to Single-Processor has been an issue with Windows 2003 and earlier where different HAL's were used. With Windows 2008 things changed and you don't need to worry about this anymore. see Inside Windows Server 2008 Kernel Changes
