Recommendations for an eSXI server (5.1 or 5.5)

In the next 3 or 4 months, I want to replace my ML350G5 with something a little more capable.  I run 4 or 5 VMs on a normal basis and could run up to 8 at a given time.

I definitely want something with hyperthreading (as the ML350 I run does not have it) and want at least 32GB ram.

Also, a brand that has a pre-customized eSXI image is desired.

I'd prefer to keep this under $1k if possible.

Hi

If no big resource usage by the VMs, i guess Dell R620 or else Dell R730 would be good, please check the specs as your need, i find that Dell is more suitable and stable than HP

Yikes, and double what I want to spend, too.

I should have also said I prefer a tower because this is going in my home office and I don't have a server rack.  Not a deal-breaker though.

Understand

but under $1K... i guess its difficult, then you must do a good market research and read some forums

I have found the following on EBay for just over $1000

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-POWEREDGE-R620-2x-E5-2660-2-2GHZ-EIGHT-CORE-CPUS-32GB-MEM-/201419791996

if you have a look around for a 2nd user site you should be able to find something in your price range.  I would consider a larger amount of memory if I was you.
