Reclaiming disk space on thin disks

A customer needs to reclaim unused disk space on thin vdisks belonging to VMs hosted by ESXi hosts.

I read many posts suggesting to use Storage vMotion.

If a customer uses vSphere Standard and Storage vMotion is not included, how can they reclaim unused space?

If you can afford downtime, you can use the vmkfstools command line utility (with "-K" or "--punchzero") after zeroing unused disk space in the guest OS itself.
