I have ESXi 7.0.2 (VMware-ESXi-7.0.2-17867351-HPE-702.0.0.10.7.0.52-May2021) downloaded and configured for a HPE ProLiant DL20 GEN 10.
I am trying to get a 4-Port PCI Express RS232 Serial Card (PEX4S553B) from StarTech to handshake with ESXi.
ESXi recognizes the ports, but when I load in a Virtual Machine (Windows XP SP3) and try to add the serial IO ports, The check boxes of the ports the boxes goes on and off and at random selected boxes (clicking and unclicking).
Have someone created an official driver for this? I checked with HPE and unfortunately they have no cards besides a single serial DB9 for an NVME slot so that's no dice.
One way is using VIB Author and putting it into a ESXi customizer exe that was written like 2013 and a guide written in 2020, and I got all that setup with a CentOS 6 container using Docker. Is there any other way to go around this? I could spend a few hours creating a VIB file and have it in the ESXi iso, but even that is not a guarantee.

one gets clicked and then all of the sudden all the other 4 gets clicked/unclicked at random times

ESXi doesn't seem to recognize the ports on the settings of this VM
