Using Red Hat Enterprise Linux x86_64 can we have 3 vm’s using RHEL cluster (GFS2) (Red Hat Cluster file system) so that multiple VM’s can read and write simultaneously?
All 3 VM’s will be guest OS of ESXi 4.0....
Yes you can use RHEL clustering in combination with VMware ESXi 4.0.
It will work...
below links are quite helpful

Is RHEL clustering is officialy supported by VMware...any document stating this statment as i can only found the documents for Microsoft Cluster Service.
I am on the same page with you, there is no official documentation or statement from VMware side.
Only Redhat says that RHEL clusters can run as VM. However as per my understanding these VMs are not supported by Redhat as well. But the solution is robust and adaptive for production.
That is correct. There is no support statement for RHEL clusters. The MSCS guide will show you how to setup the infrastructure to support clustering configuration. Also, the fencing agent is still in Technology Preview mode fro RHEL 5.4/6.0, so you won't be able to run it in a supported manner for production anyway from RedHat perspective.
But as stated, it will work just fine.
