RDM

I am running Vsphere 4.0 and am currently doing some testing of RDM's. I have a Windows Server 2003 physical server that I am going to re-build in VMware. The physical server has two LUN's that it uses on a HP EVA 8100. I presented the disks to to the virtual guest as a virtual RDM. This went without a problem. When I went into the VM disk managment it was asking to "Import Foreign Disks." I did this and all of my data was there with out an issue. Is this normal to have to import foreign disk when presenting the disks as a RDM.

Thanks.

This only happens - and is a expected behavior - with dynamic disks. This is not a matter of VMware and/or RDM, it would also happen, if you present the disks to another physical server.
