RDM LUNS visible when selecting "Add Storage"

Hello,

Running Vsphere 6.0

I am trying to understanding why I am seeing RDM LUNs in the "add storage" section in the vpshere client on only one of my 8 cluster hosts, when the RDMs are already in use by VMs as raw mapped disks.

I assume once a LUN is added in to a VM as Raw Mapped device, it should no longer be visible in the add storage LUN list. That does seem to be the case on my 7 other hosts in this cluster - I don't see the RDM's when I "Add Storage".  Only on this one host do I see the RDMs.

Any thoughts?

Check if these value are set to false

  • config.vpxd.filter.rdmFilter; false
  • config.vpxd.filter.vmfsFilter; false

I'm sorry, I do not see either of those options on any of my hosts.  What am I missing?

Add

  • config.vpxd.filter.rdmFilter; true in advance vcenter setting and perform rescan datastore.

Why would I need to add a setting in vcenter settings when 7 of my 8 hosts are working correctly?  I assumed there would be a host-specific setting.

Which client (version/build number) do you use?

Windows or Web client? Connected to vCenter Server, or  an ESXi host?
