Welcome to the Community,

what type/model of RAID controller do you use? ESXi only supports real hardware RAID controllers (see VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search),. Sofware (aka "fake") RAID controllers - often integrated in the system's BIOS - which require OS support for the RAID mirror are not supported.

Type of RAID Controller is PERC S100 (software based)

i checked VMware compatibility, the results are :

VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search

On my server

BIOS UEFI v2.1

if i upgraded from UEFI v2.1 to UEFI v2.4 or 2.7, can ESXi 5.5 use RAID 1?

Although the system itself is on the HCL, it still requires a supported hardware RAID controller. Please follow the link I posted, or select "I/O Devices" from the HCL's drop down list to find supported RAID controllers.
