I give up on getting the Adaptec 3405 controller to work as a passthrough device to server 2008 R2. I'm looking for advice on a controller to purchase that meets the following requirements. The most important requirement is that it's been tested to work as a passthrough device to a 2008 R2 guest so that I can mount the volume that is larger than 3TB from the guest OS.
1) Support 2TB drives
2) Support 4 drives natively, or via SAS (preferably SFF-8087 interface)
3) RAID 5 array creation
5) Guest OS can mount a partition greater than 2TB (using GPT)
I have verified that my host supports DirectIO/Passthrough (Dell T5500).
