R2 2008 windows NLB failed between two different hosts

Hello,

I tenhos two physical servers with two network cards, one to manage on a vSwitch and another nic for virtual servers in another vSwitch.

in all there are four virtual servers.

nic that are connected in a layer 3 switch dell.

I want to create an NLB with Windows 2008 between a virtual server that is on host1 and another virtual server that is on host2.

I installed windows NLB and create the NLB as multicast, the servers host1 do not communicate more with servers host2. (Ping)

I have with unicast and does not work well.

I found some documentation, but it was not yet clear to me.

what should I do?

I have to set something on the switch?

My nlb I created using a network card only on both servers.

Thanks.

Without NLB configured on both VMs, you're able to ping one VM to another between hosts ? In both directions ?

Both VMs and NLB should be on same network or should be connect to each other.

if you are planning to have a NLB, make sure the network connectivity between two is similar ,

I would suggest to have the same subnet , within same network range, and communication should be possible between two nodes ..

Hi,

host's are both connected to the same switch.

The vswitch1 is connected one two nics 1Gb in VLAN1

The vswitch2 is connected to a 10Gb nic in VLAN2

VMs that I'm using to create the NLB are in vswitch2, ie on the same network.

I auditioned today very interesting.

I created two new servers with Windows 2008 R2.

The vnic was created in vswitch2 for both servers.

I installed and configured the NLB in multicast and the VIP does not ping my desktop which is in VLAN3.

I removed the vnic type E1000 and added a new vnic type vmxnet3. And I configured the NLB again. Still did not ping my desktop.

I removed the NLB and created again using unicast and then ping from my desktop.

The funny thing is that in this case between the servers ping the VIP. Now my desktop does not ping when he was in multicast.

So I removed the NLB again and created now using the VIP that tried the first time to use the NLB and incredibly stopped working.

If I create the NLB with the same settings using a new VIP I can ping my desktop, but if I try to use the old VIP I tried the first time, I can not ping from my desktop.

This first VIP was configured on a virtual server that was in work. I removed the IP of the server work, not to have to change the NAT settings (pulbico).

Now I did not know what to do.

Yes. They're on the same network (VLAN).
