I am running ESX 4.0.0, 175625 I have a few Windows 2008 R2 servers on this server. One of the W2k8 R2 servers is a backup Oracle server. Any time I try to run a snapshot with the quiesce option I get the following error. "Cannot create a quiesced snapshot because the create snapshot operation exceeded the time limit for holding I/0 in the frozen virtual machine" I do have other database servers on this particular ESX server that I can quiesce.
I have read several articles like http://communities.vmware.com/message/1296588 They all talk about the "VMware Snapshot Provider" I do not have this service installed on any of my guest OS. All of the other servers, Oracle, SQL, Exchange, ect they can all take a quiesce snapshot without any issues.
I assume that at some point "VMware Snapshot Provider" is no longer a needed service?
Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be? Why can't I quiesce? Is there any way to test Windows VSS to make sure that it is working correctly? I don't see any errors in Windows Event Viewer and the error shows up quick in virtualcenter. It is acting as if it isn't even getting to the point of talking to the OS. VMware Tools are installed.
COM+ Event System is started and running Automatic
Distributed Transaction Coordinator is started and running Automatic
VMware Tools Service is started and running Automatic
Volume Shadow Copy is set to manual
Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider is set to Manual
VMware Physical Disk Helper Service does not exist
VMware Snapshot Provider does not exist
Thanks All For Any Help

I'm running into a similar situation, but I am running update 1.
Any updates on this?

Mike, it's better to create new topic instead of commenting in topic already marked as answered - your question will get more attention.
Do you have VMware Tools installed in VM?

I understand what your saying, but this is not an aswered question. By saying, look to updte 1, is not an acceptable answer in my book.
