Sometimes I have a Virtual Server that will hang on start up so I go to the VM\Power\Reset. My question is will this harm the VM in anyway?
Thanks,
Richard
a reset could hurt, after all it's an abrupt reset of the OS... it is always best practice to do a proper restart, but as we know, we don't always have that option.
I guess it's just a cross your fingers and hope you see the OS recycle properly.
A vm that hangs on startup probably already has problems, and when it does not respond to commands to re-boot the guest os, what option do you have?
I would look at backing this up asap, if its an important vm, and maybe looking at re-building it from scratch if you can't figure out whats wrong in the guest os error logs.

Thanks Fellas,
I kind of figured that when it hangs on startup my only option was to reset. The thing is this does not happen all of the time.
