Question about Local Datastore

Today, I found that there is not local datastore in the datastore list. I tried to modified the LVM configuration in the advanced settings. But there is not LVM setting for me to modify.

What shall I do to fix this problem?

Under storage adapters you can find your VMFS partition?

Even that I did the rescanning job, I could not see any info from the Device and Path list. But I can find it with "Add storage". However, once I add storage, the sytem ask me to format the disk.

What shall i DO?

If you see it when you use add storage you MUST see also under storage adapters...

From vSphere you can choose to add an existing VMFS volume without reformat it.

how does the system know about whether it needs to reformat the disk or just mount the disk?

Each formatted partition has some special blocks.

Usually if you try to add VMFS partition, ESX/ESXi (from 4.0 version) will ask you if you want to keep the data.

If it will not ask this, it mean that the partition seems clean.
