Putting ESXi host into Standby host

Hi All,

We have 10 hosts in the cluster and one of the hosts pending for HBA Emulex card replacement but meanwhile, we want the host should be into maintenance mode and if any other hosts go down then this host become active. Is it possible to do ?  Any pointers will be much appreciated.

Thanks

vmk

If you place your host in maintenance mode it will not come back automatically if another hosts goes down.

In order to get that, you would need to change the Admission Policy  to dedicated failover hosts

Well... if you have DRS than there is DPM. You can set your faulty host into sleep mode and when not enough ressources are available than vCenter will activate the host again by sending WakeOnLan package to start the host.
