I am carrying out tests with the new version esxi 6.5 on an HP server. The operations carried out by me were as follows.
Installing esxi 6.5. Imports virtual machines from the previous 5.5 version.
Update vmware tools on all vm.
It happens every 2/3 days that the system goes into purple screen with the error below.
Can anyone tell me from what is due?
Thank you
If the esxi showing purple screen once the VM's deployed on esxi 6.5 host, then issue with VMware hardware version.. Once you move the VM from 5.5 host to 6.0 host, make sure you have to upgrade the VMware hardware version on those VM's.
There appear to be a number of HP vibs which could be causing PSODs. Contact HP regarding this if needed.
Have a look at this KB: ESXi 6.5 host fails with a Purple Diagnostic Screen with error: World nnnn tried to re-acquire lock ...
1. Capture (generate) ILO logs and Hardware DSA Logs and generate Esxi host log bundle.
2.. Identify if any hardware CPU /DIMM errors
3. Log a case with VMware for further verification.
We had a few purple screens on our HPE G9's after updating to 6.5 and as jordi_minguez mentioned above, it's a driver issue.

We ended up updating all of our G9's firmware with the latest HPE SPP (2016.10) and also by adding the HPE depot to Update Manager and updating the drivers on every host.
