Problems adding Adaptec 29320-ALP to VM

HI,

I have installed a PCI-X card (adaptec 29320-ALP) into one of my ESXi Hosts , an HP DL360 G6

I would like to add this card to a VM to allow me to connect to a tape drive for use with Backup software.

In VCenter , I can see the card when I go to the relevant host , configuration , Storage adapters.

When I go the VM settings and add hardware , it is saying 'none available' under PCI or SCSI adapters

I have run 'esxcfg-module -l' and can see it has loaded the appropriate module "aic79xx" , although Im not sure how to tell if this is the latest version

anyone have any Ideas how I can get this to be seen by the VM?

Thanks in advance

Great, I ve just done that and rebooted the host , I can now see it as available hardware.

I knew about directpath , but I didnt think it was necessary to do , I though you would be able to add it without going through the DP process.

thanks for the help Smiley Happy
