Problem attaching existing virtual disk to new VM

Hi guys,

I have a problem trying to attach an existing disk (creating it with the 'vmkfstools' command) to a VM.

Background: I want to establish a 2-nodes vm cluster, with a virtual disk quorum. I already have the 2-vm's, and after creating the virtual disk to use as the quorum disk, and trying to attach the virtual disk to one of the vm's, I got the following error:

"Device 'vim.vm.device.VirtualSCSIController' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing"

I use the following command to create the virtual disk (used from the "Setup for Microsoft Cluster Service" guide from VMware):

vmkfstools -c .vmdk

I also tried to add the flag: -a lsilogic

But no can do!

What could be the problem here? And how can I solve it?

Thanks in advance..

Martin.

Make sure the VMs don't have any snapshots. See this KB article:

Cannot set a virtual SCSI controller to shared
