Problem after passthrough

I have a problem. I think I accidentaly made a passthrough on my PCI device containing my datastore and VM's.

I have autostart enabled on my VM so I have no datastore visible in my esxi ui.

I would like to be able to start up my esxi host in maintenance mode without my VM claiming the PCI card containing the datastore.

Then I can disable the passthrough and everything can go back to normal.

Can somebody help me, please. Kind regards.

I assume that you tried disabling the passthrough through the UI (e.g. embedded host client) and it is not taking effect.

You can refer to this KB on how to edit esx.conf

https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1022011

If editing the esx.conf still does not take effect (it has occurred to other users before), you can take a look at this thread

How to disable ESXi Passthrough my findings

If your ESXi is installed on a USB thumb drive or SD card, you can mount that to Linux PC/laptop and do the same steps or you could do as what is specified in the thread and use a LiveCD boot.
