Problem adding iSCSI-Datastore ESXi 4.1

Hi,

i have en vsphere Essential Bundle, 2 IBM Blade Server with ESXi 4.0 an an iSCSI-SAN.

Both of the ESXi 4.0 Server are connected to the same iSCSI target.

After installing the third Blade Server with ESXi 4.1, i could not add the iSCSI - Target to the datastore.

The iSCSI-Connector finds the target but thers no way to add it.

Is it not possible to connect ESXi 4.0 and ESXi 4.1 Host to the same iSCSI Target?

Welcome to the Community,

actually I don't see a reason why this should not work.

Did you make sure your iSCSI-SAN is supported for ESXi 4.1? (see VMware HCL)

Also make sure you presented the LUNs to the new host on the SAN side.

The iSCSI-Connector finds the target but thers no way to add it.

Can you expain this? Do you receive any error messages?

Hi André

thank you for your replay.

Already checked the HCL an Open-E VSS 6 is supported.

I attched two screenshots:

First the storage devices. Marked the needed LUN:

Secound i try to add the LUN to storage:

The marked LUN is missing.

My next guess was to attach the LUN direct without the vcenter to the client. In this case he finds the LUN but afterwards he want to format the LUN, which is pretty bad Smiley Wink
