Private network between hosts in different regions

Dear guys,

i just have been asked if it would be possible that 2 hosts in different regions (EU-NA) can communicate in a virtual private network over the WAN.

To make that happen i was thinking to :

- import the NA host into a cluster in the EU vcenter

- create a tmp DVS and attach the 2 hosts to this DVS

- create a private VLAN PG and configure 2 VMs with this PG =>they just have to communicate each other, it's just a test

The question i have is the following : considering the 2 hosts are in different regions, would the traffic of the 2 VMs go over the WAN using the same DVS ?

Many thanks in advance.

Daniele

I thought over it and it's not possible, with DVS and a dummy network we have L2 and we have no tools for encapsulating L2 into L3, i have no NSX.

I will give points myself
