Powershell CLI and ESXi 3.5 - Looking for How-To Documentation

Need: Looking for some documentation on how to use Powershell CLI and ESXi 3.5 neither of which I have experience with.

Goal: To be able to virtualize some monitoring software on ESXi 3.5, so the network here can be monitored.

Thank you in advance.

hi ,

you need to monitor the network traffic ( all network traffic )  , get snort , you can install it a VM and have it logs to a Database , it will montor the entire network ( even if you have mutlple subnets , along with traffic inbound from the internet )

check snort.org

You can always start here:

http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/sdkwin40u1/ZHcqYmQlcHRiZGVqdA==

and here:

http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.powercli.vum_inst.doc_50/vumps_admgd_p...

vCenter also provide some monitoring tools set " Alarms built-in and you can configure your owwn".
