Poweredge T110 and Cisco nss3000

Hi to all,

i installed esxi 3.5 an Dell Poweredge T110 with nas Cisco nss3000 using nfs protocol. I migrated a windows 2003 server, but this sistem is so slow (tranfer rate is about 14mb/s), so when i powered on the virtual machine it si so slow... The connection between T110 and nss3000 is Gbit ethernet... I don't understand where is the problem...

Thanks...

nss3000 have 4 sata hd (1Tb) with raid5.

I suppose the problem is the nas storage. If i try to transfer about 2gb file from a pc directly connected (with 1 gb ethernet card) the transfer rate is about 14 mb/s...

What can i do?

Thanks...

there isn't alot oyu can do with poor storage performance except replace it.

you are running a device with sata drives, no RAId controller with a write cache so every write to disk waits for the disk to acknowledge before its responds. The only potention hope is if it works any faster as a RAID 10, but I doubt it.

Find yourself a megaraid or 3ware controller with a BBWC on ebay and build a cheap openfiler system...
