PowerEdge 2900 w/ Perc6i @ESXI 5.1

I have a PowerEdge 2900 running ESXI 5.1 and I have tried setting up the system to be able to monitor HDD health status in the array to prevent catastrophic failure of my array. I have tried using a write-up on the LSI vib file install and i have tried open-manage offline bundle. Neither method i could get to function where it would give me array data and individual drive health. Is there any insight on how others have gotten this to work so that I can implement this with our system? Thank you

Here are my references from previous attempts:

Hello and welcome to the communities.

Neither method i could get to function where it would give me array data and individual drive health.

Is this what you are ultimately after?

Yes, this is what i am after. Or the ability in the vSphere to see the health of the array.

I have a set of instructions that can be used to get the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator working. Sounds like you have the offline VIB installed already, but maybe not the OpenManage Server Administrator Managed Node software?

I have installed the VIB file, still with the open manage software I am unable to connect to host. I get error message Connection Failed in browser based connection, or this feedback from CLI.

I am not sure what i am doing wrong, it seems as though the system is not running the open manage vib and not allowing me to port in to view hardware data. What am I missing? Version differences?

What version of the OpenManage Server Administrator Managed Node software are you using?

Both of these errors look like network connectivity issues. Can you ping the ESXi hosts from the locations the DSET and OMSA are running from, and can you verify that there is no firewall or other device in the way?

I installed this tool to a host on the vm, input the string and ran tool, this came back again. VIB installed on ESXI host is Dell OpenManage 7.1-0000 2012-05-21

7.1-0000 2012-05-21 is only compatible with ESXi 5.
