PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.0.0 (now free for ESX/ESXi)

Not sure if the community is aware yet, but the latest version of APC PCNS, v3.0.0 is now free. Albeit you need to have a supported Management Card installed in the UPS to use it. It has a release date of 19may2011.

I already had v2.4.4 installed on a ESX 4.1 box and it ran without issues and did shutdown the guests when your configuration in VMware is correct.

The upgrade procedure went smoothly and I didn't loose any of my previous settings.

There is a cavet, as the version of Java has changed. The release notes say to remove the old version of java before doing a update or the new version of java won't be installed. I just stopped the PowerChute Service, renamed the folder for the jre installed, then ran install script for PCNS 3. It detected the previous version of PCNS and updated everything and installed the new version of java.

i have instllaed powerchute network shutdown v3.0.0 in esxi4.1

i have installed vma and under this the powerchute program

any vmware ( vma too) are in guest shutdown but when the powerchute try to shutdown virtual machine (  have configured an event for begin shutdown when the apc ups is in battery mode from 120 second) in  the powerchute i view the event start but  no virtuasl machine go in shutdown guest and the program  powerchute crashes ( i must manually restart vma for restart powerchute

what can i do ?

Does anyone know where I can still get this version or at least 4.2 for VMWare? I spoke with tech support at APC today and they can't access anything older than 4.4.3 and that won't run on VMWare 5.5. I need at least 4.2 or lower. There are several dead end links on the web that don't produce a download. Thanks.
