This sometimes happens.

The easiest workaround is to get yourself a cheap intel e1000 NIC and put that in a PCIe slot.

Alternatively you can go and customize an install CD where you inject the correct driver, that means you have to locate a working driver for the existing NIC first.

Then you can inject the driver.

For example using: VMware Front Experience: ESXi-Customizer-PS

edit: Just noticed your current network adapater is a 100Mbit realtek, so the following article for vSphere 5.5 probably helps:

http://www.bussink.ch/?p=1228

The drivers from vSphere 5.5 should still work in vSphere 6.

Good luck!

Hi,

I don't think installing vSphere 5.5 will help, you can always try of course.

Did you use this driver?

https://vibsdepot.v-front.de/wiki/index.php/Net-r8101

Personally I would really just insert a standard intel NIC in the board and get vSphere installed. Then worry afterwards on getting the realtek NIC recognized.

I'm not sure if my memory serves me right, but I think that ESX 3.5 was the last version that carried 100Mbit drivers.

Hi

I test with à 5.0 and the install is ok.

But at the reboot  the bios don't find the boot disk

Have you a idea?

Are you installing to a USB stick? If so try another one? If not.. try installing to a USB stick Smiley Happy

Hi,

Oh.. I'm surprised it even let you iinstall.

When I first looked at the  specs in your link I noticed the machine would be very underpowered, but didn't look much into the details.

When looking at the processor specs that is on your motherboard:

http://ark.intel.com/products/35635/Intel-Atom-Processor-230-512K-Cache-1_60-GHz-533-MHz-FSB

It lacks virtualisation VT-x which at least severely limits its use.

The processor has only 1 core while vSphere 5 requires at least 2 cores.

Minimum system requirements for installing ESXi/ESX (1003661) | VMware KB

You need at least 2GB of RAM, if you want to run guests you should have more then that.

I tried to see if the processor supports LAHF/SAHF but am unable to see that from here.

All in all, I don't think this motherboard will work, you will need something a bit better.

Sorry for the bad news. Luckily you didn't spent money on a new NIC yet.
