I have HP Proliant DL380 Gen9 hosts with HP custom imaged installed (VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 15160138). I want to patch with this build 16075168. Do i need to grab another custom hp image or can i just patch with ESXI patches from vmware? Here is the build table.
ESXi 6.7 P02 | ESXi670-202004002 | 04/28/2020 | 16075168 | N/A |
ESXi 6.7 EP 14 | ESXi670-202004001 | 04/07/2020 | 15820472 | N/A |
ESXi 6.7 P01 | ESXi670-201912001 | 12/05/2019 | 15160138 |
From what I've read, HPE supports VMware patches within the same Update release, so since you are already on v6.7 Update 3 installing the patches should work fine.
Anyway, what's the reason why you don't want to update the hosts to the current build number (16713306), for which HPE provides a customized image at https://my.vmware.com/en/web/vmware/downloads/details?downloadGroup=OEM-ESXI67U3-HPE&productId=742?

Thanks for the input. The version i want to go to fixes an issue im dealing with on one of the hosts. I dont want to go to the latest version because i have 3 weeks left in the semester and dont want to introduce any new possible problems to the situation.
