Hello all,
I am trying to activate passtrough on my VMware ESXi 4.1 server, but the vSphere client states that passtrough is not supportet on the system.
For my koledge, the board and CPU should support passtrough and VT-d is activated in the BIOS. Do I miss any settings to activate passtrough?
My system:
VMware ESXi 4.1.0.260247
Mainboard: Supermicro X8SIL-F
CPU: Intel Core i3-530
Ram: 8GB
Any ideas?
Best regards,
LF.
Did you perform a cold restart after enabling VT-d? And just to double check is the option that you enabled VT-d (or VT Directed I/O) and not just VT? If you look at /var/log/messages after a reboot do you have any messages about the IOMMU driver?

Hi,
Sorry but Intel Core i3 doesn't support Vt-d.
Only Core i5/ core i7 / Xeon X3400/L3400 support Vt-d.
You should buy a Xeon X3440 to take also advantage of ECC memory support.
